P: Please introduce yourself!

M: My name is Maddy. I am 23. I have an undergraduate degree in kinesiology and am currently pursuing my MBA. I enjoy exercise and having fun.

P: What is your favourite thing about yourself?

M: My disposition towards life: not a dweller, I don’t typical ruminate in the bad, I focus on the good

P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?

M: Hmm. I don’t know if I have this but a moment I like to reminisce on is August 2018. I think I produced enough serotonin and bliss to last a lifetime in that month. I spent it developing and deepening my friendships and my partner, and I worked with a group of people that focused on making the most of the time we had together. A lot of athletic and fun people together.

P: What is one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

M: Commit to your dreams earlier.

P: What does being a woman mean to you?

M: Being a woman just means being. I don’t relinquish my power to anyone because I am a woman. My sex and gender is just along for the ride.

P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to them if they were here now?

M: My mom inspires me a lot but I won’t use her as an example as I tell her I love her all the time.

I had a teacher from grade 6 to 8 who was the first person outside my family who made me feel like I could do anything - Jackie B.
