At the young age of 14, Katheryn, or Kate, is wise beyond her years. She believes in getting involved and surrounding yourself with like-minded people; she understands the power of community, choosing your friends wisely, and staying grounded. To Kate family comes first. This is her story.

K: My name is Katheryn but most people call me Kate.

P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.

K: I think that I am social and smart and I am loyal.

P: What is your favourite thing about yourself?

K: My favourite thing about myself is my family.

P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?

K: When I joined band, I found all of my friends. Pick your friends carefully and value them above others.

P: What does being a woman mean to you?

K: Being part of a community.

P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?

K: I think I am inspired by Maddy, my sister, because I think that she is a person who is very well rounded and knows who she is.
