Being a woman means that you are resilient. You adapt to everything and you sacrifice for the ones you love. We are the beginning, middle, and end! We set the tone and the world needs us!

This is her story.

P: Please introduce yourself!

E: My name is Erica, @everythingabouterica. I am a third-generation DC Washingtonian and have lived in the DMV most of my life! I recently move to Philly with my fiancé. I have a Bachelors's in Fashion and Retail Management as well as a Masters's in Fashion Visual Merchandising and Journalism! I am a Product Development and Visual Manager by day and blogger after 5.

P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.

E: I would describe myself as a realist. I am optimistic and I am a Girl Scout at heart because I’m “always prepared”!

P: What is your favourite thing about yourself?

E: My smile is my favorite thing because I have a gap and it makes me feel unique!

P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?

E: When I was in grad school. I had many people ask me why am I doing this and no man will want a woman that is smarter than him. I didn’t listen to anyone who was negative and with the support of my family and fiancé I got that degree!

P: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?

E: Don’t quit and keep speaking up for yourself.

P: What does being a woman mean to you?

E: Being a woman means that you are resilient. You adapt to everything and you sacrifice for the ones you love. We are the beginning, middle, and end! We set the tone and the world needs us!

P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say if they were here now?

E: My mom is my everything. She has sacrificed so much for me and has shown me what a woman is supposed to be.

I would tell her, “mom I am so thankful for you. You continue to amaze me and inspire me everyday. Thank you for showing me what hard work is and doing so as a strong black woman is the best gift I could ask for everyday! I’m so blessed to have you as a mom and in my life”.
