K: Please introduce yourself!
A: Hey my name is Alyx and I am a choreographer/ business owner and plant based nutritionist. I’m from Liverpool but I’ve lived all over the world.
K: Describe yourself in your own words
A: I am passionate for health and helping people, I love animals and I’m such a book worm.
K: What is your favorite thing about yourself?
A: My favourite thing about myself is my confidence, I’ve worked hard to build it. I also loved my shaved head (people always tell me I have a good head).
K: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?
A: My mum has always suffered with her mental health and is also blind so I grew up as a carer but as she’s gotten older it’s become more challenging. As the youngest, I’m very close to her and this past year has been hard, I think seeing our parents age and become ill is one of the hardest things we will go through in our adult life, it certainly has been for me. Having to step up and take on that role has been a massive growth opportunity for me and I’m proud of myself for facing it head on and doing my best.
K: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?
A: I’d tell my younger self to never hold back, to just go for it 100% and not give a f**k what other people think and live everyday unapologetically you.
K: What does being a woman mean to you?
A: Being a women means whatever I want it to mean it’s different everyday and in every situation. I’m very aware of balancing my masculine and feminine. I stand strong and proud in the world and I know I can achieve anything I put my mind to but I’m also super nurturing and loving. I think as women it’s important for us to stay connected to ourselves, to quieten the noisy world and look within.
K: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?
A: I love Pink, I’m super inspired by her. She’s so talented and has the most incredible career but I love her vulnerability and that she shows the world honestly and openly what it’s like being a working mum. She has always been a role model for me even way back when she had her first album and pink short hair. Her attitude made me feel like “Yeh that’s how I want to live my life too.”
