P: Please describe yourself!
S: My name is Sue, I am a 46 year old woman. I am a mother of three wonderful grown up children, a wife of a loving husband and the youngest child of two fantastic parents who immigrated from England 9 years before I was born.
P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.
S: I would describe myself as a servant of God, my aim is to do what I was put on this earth for, Gods will.
P: What is your favourite thing about yourself?
S: My favourite thing about myself is my love for others, my empathy. My Gran made a big impact on me as a young child, telling me about the love Jesus has for us when I was very small.
I remember wanting to know everything there was to know and once I learned to read I decided I would read every book in the world. Since then I stick to my favourites and read them over and over again but am still a bit of a know it all.
P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?
S: I became a mother at a very young age, only 17. I was a child myself, but with the father of my children I managed to raise three kids and study, still with a strong desire to learn. My children bring me so much happiness and I love being a mum. After gaining a degree in Environmental Studies I gained a job at the local Council which led to a masters degree in resource management planning and a rewarding career.
There were many challenges myself and my family went through. I separated from my husband, my children’s father. This was a difficult time and these challenges shaped and moulded me into a stronger person.
P: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?
S: I would advise my younger self to have faith in God, myself and humanity and stop second guessing - your first instinct is usually right.
P: What does being a woman mean to you?
S: I have always felt lucky to be a woman as I feel that women can do everything men can do and more, bearing children is a gift that God gave us and the maternal empathy to raise them as best we can.
Also we get to dress prettier.
