Sarah

Being a woman to me means strength and resiliency.
— Sarah Cox Horton

Sarah’s optimism and compassion for the people around her are infectious. After a car crash left her severely injured, her ability to focus on the positive became her superpower. She has documented her journey to recovery on her Instagram, including the tips and tricks she has learned as she continues to navigate life without the use of her left arm; nevertheless, she is smiling every step of the way. Meet Sarah. This is her story.

K: Please introduce yourself!

S: My name is Sarah. I’m a mom of 2 little boys. We live in the Midwestern part of the US and I work in the mental health field.

I love traveling! I love the mountains as much as the beach. I love Christmas, football and spending time with my friends and family.

K: Describe yourself in your own words

S: I’m a researcher, seeker of information and an advocate. I won’t stand for cruelty and injustice in this world. I’m an empath so I typically need some alone time to recharge. I love life and all it has to offer!

K: What is your favourite thing about yourself?

S: I think my favorite thing about myself is that I love big! I’m loud, animated, I give big and just love big!

K: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?

S: On June 30, 2020 my boys and I were in a car accident. My boys didn’t have a scratch on them but I broke my neck in 2 places and my left arm had to be amputated. Although a year later I’m still healing and working through my trauma journey, with the help and support from my friends & family I’m amazed at how far I’ve come!

K: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?

S: One piece of advice I’d give my younger self is to get treatment for my depression and anxiety so I could truly appreciate life!

K: What does being a woman mean to you?

S: Being a woman to me means strength and resiliency.
