P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.

R: Having a first class art degree, I LOVE everything creative! Mental health awareness and acceptance is something I work towards using my illustrations and typography designs. My Instagram feed is full of empowering quotes to get you through the day, with a little bit of added sass, of course! I have built up an amazing community of Foxanne cheerleaders, my community are so caring and loving! They have really helped my own personal mental health issues, I know if I need a pick me up ill have a little chat on my stories and I have an amazing group of dms empowering me, gibing me advice etc. and I love to do the same in return! We need to empower each other! From toxic relationships to sexual trauma, having this community has been amazing in my progress to working on my own mental health.

P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?

R: Working for myself always seemed like such a crazy thing, I remember when I was working part time at a coffee shop along side finishing my degree I longed for the day I could be my own boss. It wasn’t until November 2019 that I decided to take the plunge and do it on my own! I quit my job and hoped It would go somewhere! From selling my own products like tote bags, stationery, prints, keyring etc, to helping businesses rebrand, and designing seamless patterns for clothing and dog accessories, these 2 years have been a blast! I’ve just moved into my second studio and my new studio is a pink palace ( I popped a pink palace on my 2021 vision board and its happened!)

P: What is your favourite thing about yourself?

R: I love how determined and motivated I am, we all have our days of course, but the majority of the time, I’m either working or taking some time to work on myself! R&R is just as important as work! Because burn out is real! It helps I love my job, but I’m always excited to go to work! Weather it be packing orders, getting stuck into client work or giving the studio a reshuffle, you’ll always find me working on something.

P: What is one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

R: Something I struggled with when I first started was pricing myself and knowing my worth. The idea that my time needed to be paid for was something which made me so uncomfortable. I undercharged myself for the first 8 months, because I didn’t think people would pay for my skill. It didn’t help that people wouldn’t pay, and whenever I would send a quote (which I do have to add, was so small) they would say “can’t you do it for free as this is your hobby?” which really affected the way I viewed myself. But after some very nice conversations with some other artists and illustrators and a stern talk to myself, I realised what I am worth. Some people will pay my prices and others won’t, and I won’t take that personally! That’s something I wish I could tell my younger self, I would tell 16 year old Roxanne to stop determining her worth by how other people treat her! KNOW YOUR WORTH GIRLY!

P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?

R: Someone who I has always inspired me is Frida Kahlo, the way she set her own standard for beauty, she celebrated characteristics other people called ugly! Also she had so many hard ships and she never lost herself, and her morals!
