Life is all about the connections you make and keep.
— Renee Sterling

Renee is a spirited and driven business woman and co-creator of the podcast Race2Rise, a platform where she houses meaningful conversations surrounding a wide range of topics with her co-host, Rondette. From discussions of mental health to career growth, she is helping to empower, engage, and inspire female listeners. After entering the arena of motherhood during the pandemic, she has come to understand the importance of outreach, as well as seeking the advice and support of others; these are values she carries seamlessly into the podcast space. Meet Renee. This is her story.

K: Please introduce yourself!

R: Hi my name is Renee Sterling. Born and raised in Miami, Florida. Have been living in London since 2008. Proud University of Florida alumnus (Go Gators!).

K: Describe or define yourself in your own words.

R: I am a daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend to the end. I live by the motto, we all we got. Life is all about the connections you make and keep.

K: What is your favorite thing about yourself?

R: My favourite thing about myself is that I can always link a book or a song to a lesson learned. I love reading and going to music festivals. Been to Glastonbury three times.

K: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that’s defined you or made you stronger?

R: Having my daughter Chloe during the pandemic truly stretched me a person. Motherhood is a beautiful thing but raising a newborn in isolation was challenging. There is reason why people say it takes a village to raise a child because there’s strength in community. I decided to get therapy so that I could be the best me for my daughter. I also was resourceful and made connections virtually to remind myself that I wasn’t alone.

K: What is one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

R: Be courageous.

K: What does being a woman mean to you?

R: Being confident, unapologetic and strong.

K: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?

R: My mom. I thank her for leading by example and giving me the blueprint to be a good person. She led with kindness and love.
