K: Please introduce yourself!
O: Hi! I'm Olivia Hill, a stand up comedian, actress, writer, and just a big makeup and Spongebob enthusiast.
K: Describe yourself in your own words
O: I always feel like a big swinging pendulum of extreme duality; sometimes I love being in the spotlight for strangers and other times I like being in my secret cave (my home) where no one really knows what I'm up to. I love creating new, fun, high-energy memories with close friends but I also love brooding in the past as a Scorpio Stellium. I feel most balanced next to the ocean, and most alive when I'm swimming in it, and I could do without camping for the rest of my life.
K: What is your favorite thing about yourself?
O: I've always been very considerate of others' feelings and circumstances, and I think having that as a core value has bled into my personal relationships as well as my style in comedy and writing. I also have a great affinity about my teeth.
K: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?
O: Like many women, I've had several, but they're not always the easiest — nor shortest — stories to tell. I'm not even sure the events themselves made me as strong as how I continued to show up in my life afterwards. I think the saying "time heals all" overlooks so many aspects of what you have to do with yourself during that time that will define and make you a stronger human being. I've learned that resilience doesn't mean shoving down your emotions and experiences like they never happened for the rest of your life, just like healing doesn't mean sitting in pain for the sake of sulking; there has to be a balance and I'm told you have to be gentle with yourself (I'm still working on that one). I'm also not a licensed therapist so take everything you read with "a grain of salt?" (Still not exactly sure how to use that saying either!)
K: What is one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
O: There are over 7 billion people on this Earth, don't feel beholden to the ones that dim your light.
K: What does being a woman mean to you?
O: It means I'm currently in an internal disagreement with my ovaries. I think we women are a resilient bunch. Even in the best case scenarios the scales are not typically tipped in our favor, and we have to look at ways to overcome that to find success, fulfillment, balance, and peace in our lives and jeez, is that exhausting! But we do it! I bet we even do it so subconsciously we don't even realize how strong we really are sometimes.
K: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to them if they were here now?
O: I have to say my mom! She's always enthusiastically championed my individuality, my sense of humor, my career goals, my interests, & my independence; basically all the things that make me, Me. She also set clear examples of being true to herself while balancing the consideration for others, and she also has a plethora of weird interests that are funny and unique, so she's been a great role model that inspired and continues to inspire my actions and creations today. My mom probably is here right now because I've most likely sent her the link to this article, so "Hiiiiii! :) "
