Mika
Mika is a creative spirit who thrives when she is surrounded by art. She is hard working and driven. Through her work as a model, she has had to learn to be okay with rejection, but these experiences have made her stronger, and more resilient. She is using them as an opportunity to trust in herself, and to not let the opinions of others determine her self worth. When told “no” she becomes inspired by the next opportunity to hear “yes”. Meet Mika. This is her story.
P: Please introduce yourself!
M: Hi! My name is Mika! I am a Model, Dancer, and a Product Developer/Designer for kids toys! I grew up in Nara, Japan and currently based in Los Angeles, CA.
P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.
M: I am a creative spirit, I like to surround myself with art, animation, nature, dance, and music.
P: What is your favourite thing about yourself?
M: My favorite thing about myself is that I will always be detail oriented and will deliver 100% quality and dedication to the work that I present.
M: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that’s defined you or made you stronger?
P: In the modeling world, repeated rejections are standard and you might feel like you are thrown into a bush full of thorns. However, I've learned to be stronger from these experiences, and these rejection points only fuel me to be stronger and resilient going into auditions and castings. It all becomes worth it when you get a callback and book the job, a reminder that the Universe is always on your side, your hard work is always recognized in some way shape or form, and these experiences are here to teach me qualities I still need work on.
P: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?
M: Don't let others ever tell you who to be, always tune into yourself, pay attention, and learn about yourself more than anything.
P: What does being a woman mean to you?
A: Being a woman means that we are part of Girl Code - the code is to always protect, uplift and support each other, and most importantly, be independent.
P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?
A: I believe all women inspire me, all women I have had the blessing to cross paths in life have taught me something whether it was good or bad, it's funny how life is, when you need to learn about something the most, that person appears and teaches you. Pay attention to those that appear in your life and you will find ways to learn something.
