Maria-Crystal
Maria-Crystal has learned the hard way that though you can’t always trust in others, you can always trust in yourself. She is strong, independent and always focussed on moving forward. Meet Maria-Crystal. This is her story.
P: Please introduce yourself!
M: My name is Maria-Crystal Melo I'm an actor, and also developing myself as a writer when ( I'm not distracted). I write based on my instincts. I wrote my first script a short film which I'm very proud of.
P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.
M: I guess you can say I'm a non conformist; it may seem a bit cliché but its true. I never follow what other people do, and I've always had a different outlook or perception than those around me. I get bored easily, and sometimes I'm discipline and sometimes I have zero motivation. I change my mind quickly, and I love my solitude. Last thing…I'm a night owl.
P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined your or made you stronger?
M: When my grandmother passed away a few years ago, suddenly my connection with my extended relatives was completely over. It was resulted from pain that no one was able to heal from. Somehow I became stronger from that experience because I learned that anyone can betray you, including your blood related family. My mindset now is expect nothing from no one and you won't be disappointed. I'm not as sensitive to things like I used to be before. My eyes got a reality check after that.
P: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?
M: Things never stay the same. Don't worry so much. It'll all be over and something new will come along. Don't compare yourself to other people. Your DNA, family, upbringing and and environment is incomparable. There will never be another you.
P: What does being a woman mean to you?
M: For me personally I think it is to have perseverance. Always keep going. And to have self love. As a woman I can be self critical so it’s important to really love yourself. And I've noticed that as I'm getting older…the more I've set boundaries.
P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?
M: My mom. She's one of the strongest woman I know and I'm so amazed all the things she went through. I learn from her strength, and I aspire to have that quality.
I’d ask her "How did you do it?" Because I'm still learning.
