Cindy

The beauty of being a woman over 65 is having the knowledge, self esteem and confidence to be whoever you want to be and the ability to appreciate others who do the same.
— Cindy Hattersley

Cindy is a vibrant fashionista who is passionate about empowering other women. She has a creative mind and knack for making spaces beautiful - both inside and outside, as evident through her business and blog Cindy Hattersley Design. Though she has an eye for beauty, a bad accident obscured her ability to see it within herself. But it led her to discover her strength. Now, through storytelling, she is determined to help women realise their own power and see that their age is but a number. Meet Cindy. This is her story.

P: Please introduce yourself!

C: My name is Cindy Hattersley. I am a 66-year-old interior designer, lifestyle blogger, gardener, wife, mom, grandma, and pro-age enthusiast.

P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.

C: I am passionate about helping women over 55, have a beautiful home and garden, enjoy fashion and be their best selves.

P: What is your favorite thing about yourself?

C: Inwardly my strength. Outwardly probably my gray hair.

P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that’s defined you or made you stronger?

C: I was badly burned (over 30% of my body) at a young age. Living with scars, learning to overcome what was on the outside, and focusing on my inner strength has definitely made me stronger and defined me in ways both good and bad.

P: What is one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

C: Oh boy that's a tough one. Do you have an hour? Don't sweat the small stuff, be confident, yet compassionate.

P: What does being a woman mean to you?

C: The beauty of being a woman over 65 is having the knowledge, self esteem and confidence to be whoever you want to be and the ability to appreciate others who do the same.

P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?

C: My aunt Dodo. She was a second mother to me and helped define me as a woman. She was selfless, a capable career woman, and a champion for women of all ages and races. She was my rock.
