Beatriz
Beatriz is a fervent and focused racecar driver and crew member in Mexico’s NASCAR scene. Her optimism and versatility have allowed her to thrive in a sport that requires immense mental strength and adaptability. Although she enjoys the speed and adrenaline of being behind the wheel, she always makes sure to enjoy and bask in the slower, smaller moments of life. In being able to manage her fears and utilize them to push her limits, she has been able to achieve greatness both on and off the track. Meet Beatriz. This is her story.
K: Please introduce yourself!
B: Hello there! My name is Beatriz, I am a 33yo woman born and raised in Mexico City. I work as a Country Manager for a Learning/Training company and I am a racing driver as part of a NASCAR Mexico team. I drive the truck #08 from Ramirez Racing at Trucks Mexico Series, and I am also part of the crew of the racing team participating in Nascar Peak Mexico Series. I love traveling most of the time to the beach, seeing great sunsets, spending quality time with friends and family and having some adrenaline within any car racing activities.
K: Describe or define yourself in your own words.
B: I am a woman that likes to enjoy micro-moments of happiness with the people surrounding me. Whereas at work, at the track, or with my closest ones, I am always keen to smile because I truly believe that when we have empathy with each other, life is more enjoyable.
K: What is your favorite thing about yourself?
B: I believe that what I like the most is the ability to adapt myself and enjoy as much as I can. No matter if it’s to go to a fancy restaurant, a taco place, an early morning at the track, a complex meeting with clients at work or a big challenge facing towards me, I try to analyse the situation, keep the objectivity and enjoy the ride. Because this adaptability brings me strength even in the worst situations when the only one that believes in you, is your own self.
K: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that’s defined you or made you stronger?
B: I think, luckily all my life experiences have contributed to developing a strength when making decisions. But the most important experience that is always there is the support of my family. My mom is one of the strongest women I have ever met as well as my dad, they make a great team, and when you have that: Family makes it easier.
One of the races in 2021 held at Autodromo Puebla (one of the fastest tracks in the country) was one of the most encouraging experiences I have ever had. Even when I had the support of my parents, my siblings, friends and drivers within the track. It was only me and the steering wheel turning left at such speed. The challenge dealing with the strength of your mental health is the clue of success. It is the most frightening yet encouraging moment to be in front of your own fears, embracing them and converting them to a point that you feel that they are no longer a weight you are carrying, they are part of you and makes you special. When I embraced that, I understood that they might not go away but that I could deal with them and bring them as well to enjoy the ride on every lap.
K: What is one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
B: Don’t doubt yourself, keep going, and never forget to smile and enjoy every piece of what you are achieving. It can always get better.
K: What does being a woman mean to you?
B: It means to be an advocate for transforming ways of thinking, opening new paths to younger girls, give love and create empathy to empower anyone that believes we can have a better way of understanding each other.
K: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?
B: The most inspiring woman for me is my mother, and luckily, I still have her with me encouraging me every day to go and challenge myself and achieve what I am dreaming of.
In terms of racing, I will always admire Claire Williams from F1 Williams racing, not only because she was a great leader & strategist, but also because she understands the passion of doing whatever you like the most and having your family being part of that. Also, is a tough decision to step out of something you have always done, but when you have created and opened a legacy for women to follow your steps, the job is done.
