Let most things go. By worrying or trying to make things better, it doesn’t necessarily end in that result. Chillax.

Anita is a determined learner. This determination drove her back to graduate school where she uncovered the greatest lesson of all - to see the world beyond black and white, to critically think and to constantly challenge. This determination also has led her to begin writing a new chapter for herself right now - one where she’s working to not sweat the small stuff. Anita is someone who appreciates the little things - like laughter - and the big things - like family and friendship. She is compassionate and curious. This is her story.

P: Please introduce yourself!

A: Hi my name is Anita. I am a 58 year old woman starting a new chapter in my life.

P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.

A: I am lucky to be surrounded by lots of friends and my three daughters.

P: What is your favourite thing about yourself?

A: My favourite thing about myself is that I like to laugh and I notice small things that bring me joy.

P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that has defined you or made you stronger?

A: I think I would say the decision to go back to graduate school when I was 28. I had to move away from my community and it defined me as it opened my eyes to the uncertainty and greyness of life. I was living more black and white but it made me realize it was ok to not know the answers to many questions.

P: What is one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?

A: Let most things go. By worrying or trying to make things better, it doesn’t necessarily end in that result. Chillax.

P: What does being a woman mean to you?

M: My view of being a woman may be more traditional than the younger generation - it means to be nurturing and a caregiver and that is a gift for myself because it fosters deep relationships.

P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?

M: My friend Meghan inspires me because of the way she carries herself in life - if things don’t work out she creates a new path forward and brings people together into community.
